Do You Know?

Do you know how much I love you?
    What I gave to make you Mine?
When you know that I am with you,
    Can you lie there and repine?

Sister! Bride! You are My treasure!
    Ev'rything I sold for you--
Like a merchant seeking pearls,
    On finding costly ones, would do.

Greater love has no one given
    Than to lay his own life down;
And for you I gave Mine freely,
    Bearing cross and thorny crown.

Oh! remember that I love you
    When you feel your bitter shame.
I bore the wrath of God My Father
    So you could wear My righteous name.

One day soon I am returning;
    Then My joy shall be complete:
By My side you'll be for ever--
    Nevermore shall you retreat!

Do you know how much I love you?
    Do you know the joy you bring
When I hear your voice, Belovéd?
    Do you know, o'er you I sing?

Do you know how much I love you?
    Can you hear My gentle call?
'Come away with Me, Belovéd!
    Come into My banquet hall.'
