This morning, I awoke under the cloud of yesterday's sins. The weight was ready to crush me, until the Lord reminded me of this truth and gave me this poem. Jesus Christ bore all my sin on the cross, and that includes everything I did yesterday!
The Sins of Yesterday
“If You, LORD, should mark iniquities,
O LORD, who could stand?
But there is forgiveness with You,
That You may be feared.”
~Psalm 130:3-4
“The LORD's lovingkindnesses indeed never cease,
For His compassions never fail.
They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness.”
~Lamentations 3:22-23
As the sun comes up today,
I remember yesterday:
All my failures, all my sins
Come rushing to my mind again.
I hear the echoes in my head
Of selfish, nasty things I said,
Of lustful thoughts, of worldly cares,
Impatient words, and lack of prayer.
But when I look away from me
Unto the Lamb upon the tree,
I realize that Your sacrifice
Has cleansed me from my ev'ry vice.
Your mercy's new with every dawn;
The sins of yesterday are gone.
Your love for me is never less,
Despite my failing selfishness.
So help me, Lord, to walk today,
By faith, to put these sins away,
To trust the blood which set me free
From serving self instead of Thee.

“I have given God countless reasons not to love me. None of them has been strong enough to change Him.”
~Paul Washer
