As I ran this afternoon, I felt a rock in my shoe. It felt as though it were a large rock, and I stopped to remove it. I found it was a mere pebble, less than a centimeter across. Yet, how much pain it could have caused had it stayed in my shoe!
I thought of this verse:
"Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,"
~Hebrews 12:1 (emphasis mine)
A tiny pebble can hinder and injure a runner. Even so, a "tiny" sin will hinder and injure a Christian. Don't let it stay! Pause where you are and remove it! You will run better without it.
