This morning started out beautifully! My time in the Word was sweet, and I left my house happy in the truth that God is in control.
So what went wrong?
By mid-morning, I was in a dark and stormy mood: grumpy, complaining, and ready to give up on life. From joy to despair in less than three hours.
Could it be that I stopped looking at Christ? I do believe so. I looked from the Maker of the sea to the waves crashing around me; I turned from the Lord of this earth to the world around me. My eyes left my eternal Prize to gaze upon the temporary problems of this temporary life.
Will I ever learn? The only way to rejoice in the Lord is to keep our eyes fixed upon Him. The only way to delight in His love is to dwell there, never letting the rejection of this foul world to pull us away from this reality.
“fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
~Hebrews 12:2
