“I love you.”
These may be some of the most misused, abused words in American English today. But when spoken from a true heart--when you know the speaker means it--don't they bring a thrill to your heart?
Recently, I saw along a highway these very words mown into the grass on a hillside. At first I wondered who had left them, and for whom they were intended. And then I realized that it didn't matter. At that precise moment in time, they were the words of my Lover, gently reminding me of His love. His reminders come so subtly, and He seldom says it outright. But this was one of those rare occasions where it was almost audible!
“and to know the love of Christ....”
